Kia Ora! Hello my name is Chelsea but my family and friends call me Chels. I have my Australian Diploma of Children’s Services and have been working in the childcare industry for the past nine years and have enjoyed every moment of it.

I grew up in a small coastal village south of Sydney called Stanwell Park, I moved over to New Zealand to support my partner as he helps with the rebuild of the Christchurch hospital and I  feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work and learn in such a beautiful country. When I’m not at work I’m usually outdoors in the garden, reading or spending quality time with family and friends. I am a huge Walt Disney and Studio Ghibil fan, and my favourite story of all time would have to be Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are”.

Martina Donohoe-Phillips : Early Childhood Teacher

Martina Donohoe-Phillips

Early Childhood Teacher

My name is Martina and I have joined an amazing team at Pebbles Montessori.
I'm from Ireland where I grew up in a great fun loving family and I'm the eight child of ten children. Our home life was a Montessori life style (although unknown to my mother) who was not aware of Maria Montessori at that time. However we were brought up to be independent and self sufficient. My parents were hard workers and as children we learned to do likewise.. There was a great love of order and routine in the household and certainly boundaries! But what great memories.
I first studied child care in Dublin and I moved on to study Montessori in London and then after my move to Christchurch I do my three years to gain my diploma in early childhood teaching. All in all I have worked with children since I was 19 years old. So a lot of experience under my belt.
My passion is in Montessori and I love watching young children learn in this way, to become self sufficient , independent, confident young learners. Our future generation, who we need to prepare and develop all the skills possible to reach their potential.
I will look forward to teaching and I will get to know all the parents in time.
