Belinda Slade


Kia ora, my name is Belinda.

I am a trained early childhood teacher and primary  teacher with special needs experience. I have always aspired to owning a very unique and special preschool and am thrilled that there are now three Pebbles Preschools in the Christchurch area! I moved from England to Christchurch in 2000 with my husband and two children, Sam and Daisy. I enjoy being on the teaching floor, walking my labradoodle dogs, reading and swimming.

I have a degree in Montessori Early Childhood Education and completed my studies in Ireland, my home country. I am a passionate Montessori teacher and am looking forward to sharing my wealth of knowledge with Pebbles. I joined the Pebbles team in October 2017 after spending the last 5 years working in a Montessori school in Christchurch,  Adelaide and South Australia. The outside environment is important to me and in my spare time I  enjoy running, CrossFit, surfing and playing rugby.

Kia Ora, Hi my name is Olivia and I have a daughter Lucy with my fiancé Matt. I trained at New Zealand Tertiary College and I am very passionate about teaching and enriching tamariki experiences. While in the learning environment all tamariki should be having fun, treated as equals and be surrounded by respectful practice. In my spare time I live spending time with my family and friends, I also do a wee bit of painting and drawing too.

I look forward to spending this special time with you and your whanau here at Pebbles.

Kia Ora whanau, my name is Bushra Shahabdeen. I have a Diploma in Early Childhood and Montessori Diploma in Early Childhood. I have been teaching for 13 years in Montessori schools. I have been working as a Teacher, Head Teacher and Centre Manager throughout my teaching career. I am passionate about Montessori and would love to share my knowledge with your children. I am privileged to watch them grow and develop their young mind, and being part of their journey.

I am married with two daughters, Shihana and Shameelah. I am from Sri Lanka and lived in Dubai for 13 years. We moved to New Zealand 16 years ago, enjoying the kiwi culture. I love traveling and visiting different Montessori schools in other part of the world.

I am very excited to be part of your team and look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion with you all at Pebbles Montessori.

Kia Ora! Hello my name is Chelsea but my family and friends call me Chels. I have my Australian Diploma of Children’s Services and have been working in the childcare industry for the past nine years and have enjoyed every moment of it.

I grew up in a small coastal village south of Sydney called Stanwell Park, I moved over to New Zealand to support my partner as he helps with the rebuild of the Christchurch hospital and I  feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work and learn in such a beautiful country. When I’m not at work I’m usually outdoors in the garden, reading or spending quality time with family and friends. I am a huge Walt Disney and Studio Ghibil fan, and my favourite story of all time would have to be Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are”.

I am look forward to getting to know all the children and families here at Pebbles and to learn from the amazing teachers here.

Kia ora, my name is Kristi.. 
I am a trained early childhood and Montessori teacher with 23 years experience in teaching, management and tertiary education. 
At the heart of my philosophy continues to be my commitment to responsive relationships with children, families and the teaching team, coupled with providing rich learning experiences for ākonga.  Our goal is to foster an intrinsic natural desire where children develop a quest for knowledge and a love of learning. 
 I am married with two children, Ella and Harry. We have two Bichon Poodles and an adorable kitten. I look forward to sharing this exciting journey at Pebbles with you and your child.

Hi my name is Luckmini I am from Sri Lanka and moved to Christchurch a few years ago with my husband and three children.

I completed my AMI Montessori training 30 years ago and set up my own Montessori preschool in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, I hold a diploma in childcare management and a Diploma in early childhood development and education. I am hoping to complete NZQA requirements so that my teacher registration will be recognized here in New Zealand.

I am looking forward to teaching and learning with the Pebbles staff with the depth of my Montessori knowledge and I hope my calm and positive personality will be an asset to our Tui classroom.

Kia ora whanau, my name is Fleur Milne. I have a Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood Education and have been teaching for six years. I am passionate about nurturing a love and passion for active exploration in young children and truly believe the foundations for a lifelong love of learning are set in the early years.

Prior to venturing into Early Childhood Education I was a youth worker and worked with in both the public and community fields.

I have a beautiful family made up of my hubby Luke, my daughter Maisie and me. We love enjoying every moment we can together and can be usually be found frolicking in the garden or snuggled up on the couch reading books.

I qualified in Ireland in 2004 with a Bachelors degree in Montessori Preschool and Primary Education (Birth-12years). I have many years teaching and management experience but enjoy the ever learning journey that is Early Childhood Education; the children are our best teachers.

Kia Ora! I’m Channtal and I am the breaks cover teacher in the Tui and Kea rooms. I have a Bachelor of Education and Diploma of Teaching. As a Primary school teacher I spent 13 years in New Entrant/Junior level and for the past 3 years have had the pleasure of teaching in the Early Childhood sector.

I have 3 children and enjoy watching their sport, travelling and spending time with them and my husband in my spare time.

Loving the outdoors, I also like a good walk up the hills, bike ride or swim, finishing with a coffee with friends or family.

It’s a privilege and pleasure to work with the staff, parents and children here at Pebbles.

Kia ora my name is Mel Lawson.

I trained as an early childhood teacher at Rangi Ruru. The emphasis on respect within the Montessori environment aligns well with my peaceful and calm philosophy. Outside of being a teacher I enjoy being being part of my daughter, Shania’s schooling community. I love being in the garden, and being social with friends and family. I am in a band and enjoy music, which is evident in my practice. I look forward to being your child's Nursery teacher, while enjoying our journey together.

Kia Ora my name is Kelly.

I have been teaching in The Early Childhood sector for over 16 years and I have a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning ECE. I enjoy working here at Pebbles and it has been a pleasure getting to know all of the families and watching the children grown and develop. I live with my husband Cliff and my two children Lucas and Katie. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family mountain biking, skiing and going on 4WD trips in our Jeep.

Kia ora, my name is Hannah.

I moved to NZ in 2006 with my parents & younger brothers from Nottingham, England. I have a Diploma of Teaching ECE and was awarded a special award for “Professional Expertise with Infants & Toddlers.” I especially enjoy working with the younger children and love being in the Pukeko Nursery at Pebbles. I live in Heathcote with my partner, Mark, and his son Connor at the weekends.
