This week, we have been celebrating Maori Language week with lots of fun and interesting activities.
Waiata (songs), stories, greetings, crafts, art, library visits, face paints and more.
We have also been practising phrases such as ‘Ke te pehea koe? How are you feeling? Have a look on on planning board for these questions prompts and answers as well as our activities this week.
The tamariki made some greenstone (pōunamu) necklaces from green play dough, designed their homes (wharae) with popsicle sticks, art work on fish hooks and kōrus and also a visit to our local library for story time and songs.
Thank you to families who kindly brought in the beautiful Maori legends and story books for us to read with the children.
It has been a wonderful week of learning about the beautiful native language of Aotearoa.
